Drone services, answered.

Everything you might want to know before your first flight, sorted by topic.

General

Are you licensed and insured to fly commercially?

Yes. I hold an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate and I'm fully insured. Every flight is legal, documented, and by the book, including LAANC authorization when I'm working near the Charlotte airspace.

What areas do you serve?

I'm based in Charlotte, NC and cover the Greater Charlotte Area, including Uptown, SouthPark, Ballantyne, Matthews, Concord, Huntersville, Cornelius, Mooresville, Gastonia, Rock Hill, Indian Trail, Waxhaw, and Mint Hill. I'll travel for the right project.

How much do drone services cost?

It depends on the location, flight time, and what you need delivered, so I scope every project individually. Reach out and I'll get you a free, no-obligation quote fast.

How quickly do I get my files?

Depends on scope, but most shoots come back quick. You get edited stills and video formatted for listings, decks, reports, and social, ready to use the moment they land in your inbox.

How do I book a flight?

Send a request through the contact form or call (704) 783-6767. We'll confirm the scope together, I'll send a free quote, then I fly the shoot and deliver your edited files.

Do you deliver edited files or raw footage?

Edited, delivery-ready stills and video. I color-correct everything myself before it goes out. Want the raw files too? Just ask.

Site Documentation

What is drone site documentation?

It's a dated set of aerial stills and video that records a property exactly as it looked on the day of the flight. Think of it as an objective reference for planning, communication, and recordkeeping. Ground photos can't match the coverage.

How is site documentation different from construction progress documentation?

Site documentation captures one point in time, like before a project starts or at handover. Construction progress means I come back on a schedule and build a timeline of the work. Plenty of clients use both, and I offer each as its own service.

Is SQO SkyWorks licensed and insured to fly?

Yes. I'm FAA Part 107 certified and fully insured, and every flight throughout the Greater Charlotte area is flown to that standard.

What do I actually receive?

Color-corrected stills and finished video, organized so they drop straight into reports, presentations, and project records. I turn files around fast so you have them when you need them.

What areas do you serve?

I'm based in Charlotte, NC and fly throughout the Greater Charlotte area. Email shane@sqoskyworks.com or call (704) 783-6767 and we'll talk about your site.

How do I schedule a documentation flight?

Reach me at shane@sqoskyworks.com or (704) 783-6767. Tell me about the site and your timeline, and I'll plan the flight from there.

Construction & Development Progress

How often should we schedule progress flights?

Depends how fast the site is moving. A lot of Charlotte teams fly monthly for a steady record, go weekly during active phases, or add flights at milestones like a foundation pour. We'll set a cadence up front, and I'll keep the vantage points consistent so every visit compares cleanly.

What do we actually receive after each flight?

Finished files. Color-corrected high-resolution stills and edited aerial video of the full site, plus any focus areas your team flagged. They're ready to drop into reports or send to owners and lenders without extra production work.

Is drone work over an active construction site legal and insured?

Yes. I fly under FAA Part 107 certification and I'm fully insured, so every flight over your site is legal and professional. The compliance side is my job, not your team's.

How fast is turnaround on the footage?

Faster than you'd probably expect. I edit everything myself right after the flight, so the files reflect the current state of the build when you need them for reports, draws, or updates.

What areas do you serve?

I'm based in Charlotte, NC and cover the Greater Charlotte area. Reach me at shane@sqoskyworks.com or (704) 783-6767 to confirm coverage for your site and set up a cadence.

Why does flying the same vantage points matter?

Consistency is what turns photos into a timeline. When I shoot from the same angles and altitudes each visit, the frames stack like a flipbook and you can see exactly when each phase moved. Mismatched views can't do that.

Marketing & Visual Media

What do I receive at the end of a marketing media shoot?

You get edited, color-graded stills and video formatted for your channels, ready to publish the day they land. You're not handed raw footage to deal with.

Can you format the video for social media and a website from the same shoot?

Yes. I plan shoots so one flight covers vertical clips for social, horizontal cuts for your site or YouTube, and stills for print and sales. One session, several jobs done.

Are you licensed and insured to fly for commercial marketing?

Yes. I'm FAA Part 107 certified and fully insured, so all commercial drone work is compliant and your brand and property are protected.

Can you fly in Charlotte's controlled airspace?

Yes. I handle the FAA authorizations for controlled airspace around the Greater Charlotte area, including the zones near Charlotte Douglas, as part of the job.

How fast is turnaround on finished media?

Fast. I edit in-house and there's no production queue between us, which helps when you're working against a launch date, a listing, or a content calendar.

Do you only serve Charlotte?

I'm based in Charlotte, NC and cover the Greater Charlotte area. Email shane@sqoskyworks.com or call (704) 783-6767 to confirm coverage for your location.

Real Estate Aerial Photography

Do you have the proper certification and insurance for commercial real estate photography?

Yes. I'm FAA Part 107 certified and fully insured. Paid drone work, including real estate photography, legally requires a Part 107 certificate, and every flight I fly meets that standard.

What do I actually receive, and how fast?

Finished files: color-corrected aerial stills sized for the MLS, web, and print, plus edited aerial video when you ask for it. I turn shoots around fast so the imagery is ready before the listing goes live.

Can you fly anywhere in the Charlotte area?

I cover the Greater Charlotte area. Some addresses sit in controlled airspace near the airport and need FAA authorization first. I handle that planning so the flight stays legal and on schedule, and if a property sits in truly restricted airspace, I'll tell you up front.

Do you shoot both photos and video?

Yes. Most listings lean on stills, but I also cut aerial video for property reels, brokerage marketing, and social. Tell me what you need and I'll plan the flight to capture both in one visit.

What if weather is bad on the scheduled day?

I don't fly junk conditions. Flat gray light or unsafe wind means we reschedule for the next clean window, because a dull aerial doesn't sell a property and an unsafe flight helps nobody.

How do I book or get a quote?

Email shane@sqoskyworks.com or call (704) 783-6767 with the property address and your listing timeline, and I'll plan the shoot.

Aerial Mapping & Site Surveys

What's the difference between aerial mapping and a legal land survey?

Aerial mapping produces accurate, to-scale visual data (orthomosaics, top-down imagery, elevation context) that's great for planning, documentation, and decisions. It's not a boundary survey and doesn't replace one. Legal property surveys have to come from a licensed surveyor. Plenty of clients use my data alongside that work to get a current picture of the whole site.

Do you serve areas outside the city of Charlotte?

Yes. I'm based in Charlotte and cover the Greater Charlotte area, including the suburban and rural parts of the region where a lot of site work actually happens.

Is flying a drone over my site legal and insured?

Yes. I'm FAA Part 107 certified and fully insured, and every flight is planned for compliance, including airspace, which matters across a region as busy as Charlotte.

What will I receive?

An orthomosaic you can measure on, plus supporting stills and any oblique or context angles the project needs, all organized so they drop straight into your plans or due-diligence materials. I don't hand over unsorted raw imagery.

Can you re-fly the same site later to show changes over time?

Yes. Mapping flights follow a fixed pattern, so I can fly the same grid at intervals and build a dated, comparable record of the parcel through clearing, grading, and construction.

How fast is turnaround?

Fast, though exact timing depends on the size of the site and what we're producing. We'll confirm it when we scope the project.

Event Aerial Coverage

What areas do you cover for event drone work?

I cover events throughout the Greater Charlotte area. Send me the venue and date and I'll confirm I can serve the location.

Are you licensed and insured to fly at events?

Yes. I'm FAA Part 107 certified and fully insured, and I plan every flight for safe, compliant operation around people and structures.

What do I actually receive after the event?

Everything shows up edited and ready: color-graded aerial stills and a highlight video you can post, present, or hand off. You won't be left sorting through raw clips.

How fast will I get my footage?

Events lose steam fast, so I prioritize getting finished aerials back while people are still talking about it. Exact timing depends on scope, which we'll confirm up front.

Can drone footage be combined with ground-level video?

Yes. I shoot and grade the aerials to cut cleanly with ground coverage, so they slot into recap reels, marketing pieces, and social content without looking bolted on.

How do I book event coverage?

Email shane@sqoskyworks.com or call (704) 783-6767 with your event date, venue, and the kind of coverage you have in mind, and I'll plan the flight from there.
